Writing Certificate


 

Application Fee

Students applying to the Memoir Writing Certificate must first pay the $80 application fee. This fee is non-refundable and only valid for one application cycle. 
 

Registration Fee

A non-refundable registration fee of $35 is applied to course registration once per quarter (does not apply to the application fee). 
 

Program Tuition

The tuition for the current academic year is as follows*:

$1,240 (course tuition) + $35 (registration fee): Finding Your Narrative: The Fundamentals of Memoir
$1,240 (course tuition) + $35 (registration fee): Memoir I: Themes and Scenes
$1,240 (course tuition) + $35 (registration fee): Memoir II: Plotting Your Life
$1,240 (course tuition) + $35 (registration fee): Memoir III: From Memories to Manuscript
$1,240 (course tuition) + $35 (registration fee): Memoir IV: Completion and Revision
$1,000 (course tuition) + $35 (registration fee): Elective (Tuition could vary slightly, depending on course selection)

*Please note that the tuition for this program is subject to change annually. Students should expect a modest tuition increase each academic year. Tuition and fees are due for each course upon registration.
 

Optional One-on-One Tutorial

Students may sign up for a Tutorial for $4,000 + $35 quarterly registration fee. See the Curriculum page for details. Manuscripts exceeding 100,000 words will be charged $40 per additional 1,000 words.
 

Discounts

Students who qualify for a tuition discount on Continuing Studies courses may also apply their discount toward the Memoir Writing Certificate (this does not apply to DCI discount codes or the "CSP Full" discount). However, students may be required, at any time, to provide proof of their eligibility for any discount. Please refer to our Tuition & Payment page for more information on available discounts. Please note: Discounts do not apply to the One-on-One Tutorial.
 

Financial Aid

Continuing Studies students are not considered matriculated Stanford University students and therefore are not eligible for financial aid. Stanford Continuing Studies does not offer a payment program.
 

1098-T Tax Form

Continuing Studies is classified as a professional development/personal enrichment program and does not meet the University's criteria to send 1098-T tax forms to students. These forms are only offered for tuition paid toward undergraduate or graduate courses.
