Students may not audit Stanford Continuing Studies courses. You must register and pay for a course before attending any class meetings.
The no-audit policy was put in place in fairness to our registered students. The majority of Continuing Studies courses have enrollment limits and fill to capacity prior to the start of class. Unregistered students may be taking the seat of a paying student and/or unfairly jumping to the front of the wait list where several students may be patiently waiting for a spot available in the course. For those reasons, we ask that all students respect the no-audit policy.
However, Continuing Studies offers a generous drop policy. Registered students may attend two class meetings to "try out" a course. After two class meetings, if you decide the course is not right for you, you may drop and receive a full tuition refund (not applicable for 1-2 day workshops). Drop notifications must be received in writing.
Note: The registration fee and any course fees are non-refundable.
