Students may not audit Stanford Continuing Studies courses. You must register and pay for a course before attending any class meetings.
The no-audit policy was put in place in fairness to our registered students. The majority of Continuing Studies courses have enrollment limits and fill to capacity prior to the start of class. Unregistered students may be taking the seat of a paying student and/or unfairly jumping to the front of the wait list where several students may be patiently waiting for a spot available in the course. For those reasons, we ask that all students respect the no-audit policy.
However, our drop/refund policy typically allows registered students to attend a class meeting to "try out" a course. The refund deadline is typically 48 hours after the first class session (not applicable for short 1-2 day courses).
Note: The registration fee and any course material fees are non-refundable.
