While AI models have existed for years, the introduction of a user interface brought mainstream attention to their capabilities, launching a new era of user experiences that transformed how humans interact with technology. This course is designed for those interested in learning how to create those systems by blending a combination of traditional user experience (UX) principles with AI-specific design strategies. Students will first learn foundational concepts, including natural language understanding (NLU) and natural language processing (NLP). You will then learn design principles—such as fairness, bias mitigation, dialogue management, and conversation flow—and apply them to a final project: creating an end-to-end conversational AI experience. In the process, you will learn to leverage user research to uncover insights into AI interactions and identify the right use cases for your AI products. Designed for both experienced UX and product professionals and newcomers, this course provides students with a robust understanding of AI design concepts and the practical skills to bring AI-powered user experiences to life.
