Each person has a unique speaking voice. This experiential workshop uses business coaching and acting techniques to help speakers unlock their natural talents and find their authentic voice. You will learn to claim the stage, project a sense of presence, and most of all, truly engage an audience. The course will offer a lively combination of speech-mapping and writing techniques as well as skill-building vocal and physical exercises that will help you find new ways of turning nervousness into positive energy. You will present at least three formal and informal speeches, beginning with personal topics and then moving into your specific areas of interest. Step by step, you will accumulate the eight tools of great delivery, adding dynamics through such elements as story, metaphor, vocal tone, and the use of space. Rehearsal techniques that allow you to truly know your material (without memorizing it) will be rigorously practiced. In this course, you will discover an engaging way of speaking in your authentic voice.

Advanced-level proficiency in spoken English is required.
