People analytics is a new and growing HR function that blends data science and organizational psychology to deliver a competitive advantage through people. People analytics quantifies this intangible value so that decisions about people—as individuals and in teams and organizations—can be data-driven. The right decisions on where to source talent, whom to hire and promote, which benefits to offer, which aspects of engagement to focus on, which skills to build or buy, and where to invest scarce HR budget resources can significantly impact business value and competitiveness. This non-technical course is designed for aspiring or early-career people analytics practitioners, newly minted people analytics leaders, and HR practitioners trying to increase their comfort and capability in making data-driven decisions. It will teach the required technical skills, complemented by guest speakers from leading companies who will share their journeys, offer guidance, and answer your questions.

During the course, students will purchase case studies and Harvard Business Review readings. They can expect to spend an additional $30–$50 on these materials.

Amit Mohindra’s company helps organizations and individuals accelerate their success in people analytics through advisory, coaching, and education services. He founded and scaled people analytics teams at Apple, McKesson, and Wayfair and was an HR executive at Goldman Sachs, Lucent Technologies, and IBM. He began his career investigating labor market outcomes for women as a World Bank research economist. He invests in and advises people analytics startups. Mohindra received an EdD in organizational change and leadership from USC, an AM in economics from Brown with a focus on labor and development, and a BS and an AB degree in electrical engineering and economics from Lafayette College.
