Succeeding in today’s complex organizations requires skillfully navigating relationships in every direction—upward with managers, downward with direct and indirect reports, and laterally with peers and cross-functional partners. Competing priorities, unclear expectations, and everyday pressures can make these relationships difficult to manage with intention and impact. In this course, we focus on helping you develop the judgment and communication strategies needed to manage up, down, and across effectively. We explore how to align with managers and leadership, advocate for your work, and gain visibility without overstepping. We also examine how to build credibility and trust with direct and indirect reports so individuals and teams feel supported and engaged, as well as how to secure buy-in and respect from peers and stakeholders. Class sessions emphasize interactive discussion grounded in real-world scenarios, along with practical examples, reusable templates, and example scripts. You will be able to translate core concepts into clear, actionable guidance you can apply directly in your professional role.
