Artificial intelligence is transforming industries, but not every AI feature translates into a meaningful product. This course is designed for professionals who want to understand what it takes to create AI-native products—where AI is at the core of the value proposition rather than just an add-on. We will explore both predictive AI products, such as search, recommendation, and personalization systems, and generative AI products, including co-pilots, assistants, and creative tools, highlighting both their commonalities and key differences.
Participants will learn frameworks for identifying AI opportunities, defining product vision, designing user-centered experiences, and leading cross-functional teams. We will discuss how to evaluate data and model needs, measure success in probabilistic systems, and build defensible strategies in a competitive landscape. Through case studies from large tech companies and emerging startups, students will gain a clear understanding of how to develop AI-native products from concept to market impact.
This course relies on the use of an external, third-party tool that is not managed or supported by Stanford. Students must purchase their own tool subscriptions and can expect to spend $25-$100 per month. Please see the course syllabus for more details.
