Decades of research now confirm what contemplative traditions have long suggested: mindfulness, meditation, and yoga can reshape the brain, strengthen emotional resilience, and support both physical and mental health. These practices improve sleep, enhance focus, and help us meet stress with steadiness and compassion. This course offers a concise, evidence-based introduction to the science and practice of mindfulness. Each week, we will examine the psychological and neurological foundations of mindful awareness while learning practical exercises that can be integrated into daily life. Topics include the origins of mindfulness, the physiology of stress and trauma, adaptive coping strategies, and the role of values and purpose in sustaining well-being. Course materials draw on clinical and positive psychology, neuroscience, and integrative medicine. By the end of the course, you will design a personalized practice plan—aligning a central mantra, core values, and simple mindfulness habits—to support a more grounded and intentional way of living.
