You will learn to look at the world like an artist, enabling you to create visually captivating and emotionally resonant images. Students will delve into fine art concepts such as composition, lighting, color theory, and storytelling and learn how to apply these concepts to their smartphone photography. We’ll explore the works of renowned fine art photographers as you develop your visual style and find inspiration in various artistic movements. You will also gain a deep understanding of your smartphone’s camera settings and capabilities, learning to control exposure, focus, and depth of field to achieve professional-grade results. Through practical assignments, you will build a portfolio of fine art photographs, receiving constructive feedback from the instructor and fellow students while connecting with a community of fellow photography enthusiasts, sharing your work, and engaging in discussions to refine your skills.
This course is for students of all levels. Newer smartphones (iPhones and Android phones) are recommended; however, all models are welcome. Students can expect to spend $20–$25 on apps; accessories demonstrated are optional purchases.
