Is the card inside your digital camera packed with photos, but you don’t know what to do with them? Geared toward photography beginners, this course will introduce students to basic photography and computer workflow techniques. Students will independently shoot photographs in the manual exposure mode under various lighting conditions, merging technique with ideas of composition, color, and action. Weekly assignments will build upon each other, to be presented and reviewed by the instructor and classmates on the discussion board. We will also examine the similarities and differences in technique and workflow between film photography and digital photography. By the end of the course, students will have a working knowledge of how to manage their digital photographs both inside the camera and on the computer.

This course is designed for those with little or no experience in photography. Students should have access to a digital camera with a manual exposure mode. This course includes two field trips. Field trip transportation will be the responsibility of the student. More details will be provided prior to the first class.
