No matter where you are in writing your novel or memoir, this course will demystify the three main publishing paths available once your manuscript is complete: traditional publishing, hybrid publishing, and self-publishing. We’ll cover how to craft an effective query letter, identify comparison titles, and find and approach literary agents, as well as the essential roles marketing and publicity play in setting up your book for success. We will also discuss how much of your own money you might invest with each publishing path. You’ll learn how to define your audience and reach readers through both free and paid opportunities, including how you can harness social media to your advantage. By the end, you’ll have a clear understanding of each of the three main publishing paths and a sense of which works for your manuscript, and you will be ready to take your next steps toward seeing your work in print.
