Crafting an effective query letter is essential to capturing an agent's or publisher's attention. In this workshop, we’ll work together to learn how to research comparable titles, identify the right agents and publishers for your project, and compile a list of at least 20 markets to query based on your genre and goals. You'll draft a query letter using an industry-standard template and receive personalized feedback through workshopping and instructor guidance. We'll also develop a two-page synopsis and the first five pages of your manuscript, ensuring your submission packet meets professional standards. Finally, we'll cover the submission process, including how to interpret agent responses and plan your next steps. By the end of the course, students will produce an edited/revised query letter, a two-page synopsis of their work, and five sample pages to submit to a vetted list of agents and publishers. Let’s work together to craft an effective submission so you can submit with confidence.
