Memoir IV supports students as they work to complete and polish their memoirs. Throughout this final course, writers may complete missing sections, shape the manuscript into a unified whole, and plan or begin a substantial revision using feedback gathered across the program. Students will workshop 10,000 to 12,000 words, allowing for sustained engagement with a longer section of the manuscript. Working closely with an instructor and in small, dedicated groups will allow students to identify missing sections, guide the redrafting of chapters that previous workshops have shown to be problematic, or take on any other activities to complete and improve upon the manuscript. What you will learn in this course will enable you to take your memoir from a collection of memories to a powerful, cohesive narrative that captivates your readers while staying true to your life story.
