A great idea is only as good as your ability to build it. Actualizing your idea is possible through the use of a three-step framework: understand, identify, and execute. Beginners and advanced students alike will find great power in this simple and effective product development framework. In this hands-on course, you will learn and actively implement the processes behind the framework, taking an initial idea and transforming it into an app experience.
Using the framework, we will cover these foundational topics and more: (1) Understand: identifying user problems, defining a prioritization framework, exploring user personas, and conducting existing market research; (2) Identify: determining Jobs to Be Done and understanding key user experience design patterns and principles relevant to your idea; (3) Execute: ideating solutions/product features, building wireframes and prototypes via user-friendly design tools like Figma, and validating early designs via user studies.
We will also conduct weekly design critiques of real-world products across different sectors. By the end of this course, you will have taken an idea—either your own original or assigned if needed—and gone through the understand, identify, and execute framework to design an original, high-quality app.
