How often have you started your workday with a clear plan and objectives...but by the time you pull your head out of your inbox it's lunchtime (or later), and you haven’t actually accomplished anything important? Do you lose precious time hunting for files or emails? Do you wake up at 2:00 am remembering something you forgot to do? It doesn't have to be that way. Imagine finishing the day with your desk clean and your mind clear. In this course, you will learn how to blend lean production concepts with classic time management principles to eliminate the hidden waste in your workflow. With these intuitive and practical tools, you will be able to get your strategic priorities done instead of always putting out fires. You will be able to better manage your commitments and focus on your overarching goals. Instead of frantically struggling to keep up with the demands on your time, you will have control over your work—with less stress and no fear of forgetting anything. This course will combine lecture, individual exercises, small-group discussion, and full-class conversation to address organization, procrastination, email management, visual management, standard work, and work (re)design. We will also leave plenty of time to address specific issues students are grappling with to ensure that everyone leaves with the tools they need to take charge of their days.
