Have you ever encountered a truly great leader—one who demonstrated emotional intelligence, ethical behavior, and a sense of balance, while also pushing the work forward and instilling a larger sense of purpose in their team and organization? Most of us consider ourselves lucky if we’ve had the opportunity to work with even one leader in our lifetimes who fits this description. Indeed, data from a recent Gallup State of the Global Workforce report suggests that leaders around the world fall short of the ideal—a reality that impacts everything from employee engagement to organizational performance. However, contrary to popular belief, most of us aren’t born with a natural ability to lead well. Rather, leadership competency develops over time with the right tools and developmental experiences. Drawing on the philosophy and science of great leadership, this course covers critical, evidence-based practices that will support you in developing into a successful, fulfilling, and impactful leader. Through a combination of competency-building exercises, personal reflection activities, and online discussion, you will increase both your personal leadership competency (e.g., authenticity and working well with others) and your organizational leadership competency (e.g., influencing and motivating others with a strong vision, a successful culture, and effective management). This course will be particularly relevant to managers, team leaders, and anyone who aspires to develop high-performance leadership competencies.
