Feeling uneasy about an upcoming business presentation or speaking on the fly? You are not alone. This course provides a practical, hands-on introduction to the theory and methods of effective public speaking. We will focus on the three pillars of speechmaking: organization, delivery, and oratorical style—skills that make you shine in job interviews, sales pitches, and business meetings. We will also practice techniques for both in-person settings and digital audiences. Each student will have the opportunity to develop, deliver, and evaluate both formal (informative and persuasive) and informal (Q&A and impromptu) presentation formats. Together, we will learn to manage speech anxiety, use visual aids effectively, master powerful online presentations, and contribute meaningfully to meetings. Whether you are preparing for an all-hands meeting, presenting to clients, or even speaking at a family reunion, this program will equip you with the necessary tools and techniques to deliver your message with confidence and impact.

While this course will be most valuable for beginners, it will also provide new ideas for intermediate and advanced learners to incorporate. Advanced-level proficiency in spoken English is required.
