Think of all you've achieved by being fluent in English. But when it comes to delivering a compelling and impactful presentation that resonates with English-speaking audiences, fluency is not enough. Like many other languages, it's the nuances and subtleties in tone, inflection, pauses, and pacing that can be the difference between a great presentation and one that’s either less interesting or harder to follow.

While accent reduction and other language courses focus on pronunciation, this course will take a deep dive into overcoming challenges with enunciation—which includes word clarity and voice control—ensuring that what’s said is easy to understand. Students will learn to moderate their speech and become adept at creating presentation flow and visual content that compliments their delivery. Topics covered will include a review of differences in communication styles across cultures, how audiences listen and why they stop listening, choosing effective words and phrases, and smooth transitions between slides. Video examples will be used to illustrate techniques discussed, and students will create and deliver a series of mini-presentations to hone skills that will guide them for years to come.
