Today's audiences have short attention spans, rely on compelling visuals, and want to be presented with focused, efficient, and relevant information. Presentations must also succeed in a variety of settings, including face-to-face, virtual, or a combination of both. In this course, we'll challenge classic presentation techniques by exploring how to use narrative structure and design in order to engage and influence your audience. You’ll learn research-based strategies to prepare, design, and deliver impactful presentations, including messaging, outlining, and visual design principles. Additionally, we'll explore how to utilize AI to add efficiency and enhance your design and delivery. Through readings, videos, hands-on exercises, and group discussions, we’ll explore how people learn and how stories, graphics, and space impact audience attention. By the end of the course, you’ll develop and deliver a short presentation, receive feedback, and leave with a reusable slide deck adaptable across any industry.
A basic understanding of how to use presentation software such as PowerPoint, Google Slides, or Keynote is required.
