In today's digital age, effectively conveying data is crucial. This beginner course introduces students to data visualization using Python and its related libraries, including Matplotlib, Seaborn, and Plotly, for creating dynamic visuals. We'll survey the ecosystem of tools, reviewing different chart types and discussing what each is best at conveying. There will be lab sections each week so students can apply their learning immediately, working toward their own projects with help from the instructor. With lectures, simple live coding, hands-on activities, and insights from industry experts, students will be guided every step of the way. At the end of the course, students will have a personal portfolio of visualizations that they understand deeply and can leverage going forward.
Previous basic coding experience is preferred but not required, as we will be editing existing code. Students are required to bring a fully charged laptop computer to class.
