We use apps on our iPhones to perform myriad, innovative tasks that we now consider to be essential parts of our lives. It is no wonder that mobile application development has emerged as one of the hottest areas of software engineering. In this project-based course, you will build your first iPhone application.

First, we will start with the basics of app development for the iPhone. Topics you will learn include the Swift programming language, navigating Xcode, designing user experiences, software design patterns, fetching data from the Internet using APIs, using Table Views to present large collections of data, using Git for version control, and downloading outside libraries using CocoaPods. Next, you will build your app idea. You will explain the purpose of the application and its features, and design the user experience. Each week you will complete an assignment facilitating your application development. By the end of the course, you will possess a strong foundation in iOS development and you will have finished your first app.

No prior experience in software development is required. Students should have a basic understanding of programming concepts and have a Mac with Xcode installed.
