Product development is full of assumptions, untested beliefs, and risk. In even the best circumstances, it can take months or years of effort to prepare for launch, and you can’t prove your product will be valuable until after that day. What if you’re wrong? What happens then? In this hands-on course, we combine design thinking and rapid experimentation techniques to minimize risk and maximize outcomes. You will learn how to test assumptions, validate solutions, and build value throughout your process instead of six months from now. It starts with a product charrette, in which we organize a delivery team around an objective, devise potential solutions, and decide what to do now, next, and later. From there, we explore how to achieve a continuous routine of rapid experiments, in which we define hypotheses and choose testing methods to create something worthwhile right now and throughout the process. Making use of time-tested tools such as value stream diagrams, value propositions, prioritization exercises, and rapid experiments, you’ll learn to unleash the power of lean, cross-functional teams for practical innovation. Armed with a complete set of online collaboration and innovation tools, you’ll learn to facilitate and organize teams around an outcome, invent and evolve solutions, and find the perfect product for your audience.

Jenifer Bailey is a user experience leader with two decades of experience. She focuses on reframing what is possible to address limiting beliefs and bias. Bailey worked as a design leader at Apple, and she leads and facilitates high-functioning client teams at Tangible UX. She coaches entrepreneurs seeking to cultivate passion, purpose, and meaning in work and life.
