Stop informing. Start inspiring! Your job as an impactful communicator isn’t only to help others hear what you say; it’s to get them to feel what you mean. This skill requires effective delivery of your message, both in virtual and in-person environments. Whether you’re conversing with another person, facilitating a meeting with your team, or speaking to an audience of hundreds, the strategies to engage, inspire, and influence people span equally.
In this fun and high-energy workshop, we will spotlight the medium of spoken communication and share what it takes to be a competent and purposeful communicator. Through engaging lectures, reflective discussions, and hands-on learning, participants will investigate critical questions: How do I connect and create trust with my audience so my message is received as intended? How can I feel confident even when I don’t have all the answers? How can I say more with less and increase my credibility as a communicator? How do I purposefully engage others to retain and act on my message? Together, we’ll engage in partnered exercises and small-group work to practice the skills that instill trust and compel others with nonverbal communication. By exploring basic tenets of related neuroscience, we’ll learn why these techniques and mindsets work in a sustainable way. Students will leave energized, with skills to create a positive impact in any kind of communication exchange.
