This course is a combination of online T-group (“T” is for training) and class exercises with a focus on building and sustaining relationships using a virtual medium. T-group is an experiential way of learning about yourself and others that is the cornerstone of the flagship “Interpersonal Dynamics” course at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. We will work in small groups, each with a facilitator and up to ten students. There will also be presentations and exercises with the full class. This is real-time, hands-on learning with plenty of opportunities to practice effective interpersonal skills and increase your awareness of your feelings, perceptions, and behaviors. Wisdom in groups can help uncover aspects of yourself that previously were unseen. The practice you get during this course in building trusted relationships can be applied with friends and family and at work—whether your interactions are in person or online. You will discover and practice skills to help you effectively communicate in a diversity of environments. You will hone your ability to fully listen, to give and receive honest feedback, and to express yourself more authentically, all while experimenting with the novel dynamics of communicating virtually.

Prerequisite: Advanced-level proficiency in spoken English. A high level of participation is also required, and students must commit to attending the first four sessions.
