This course will teach the business foundation of artificial intelligence (AI) and how product managers and business managers can pivot their careers to use it. AI combines insights resulting from emerging data sources and algorithms, leading to innovations spanning every industry. We will begin by focusing on laying a strong foundation of various AI applications such as facial recognition, computer vision, voice, and machine learning by teaching AI as a technology. Then, students will learn AI as a market and AI as a business and understand the AI ecosystem to help with career pivots. Next, we will teach AI ethics and responsible AI with a guide to AI product management and applied AI. We will have external speakers and student alums bring reality of AI in retail, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, fintech, and autonomous vehicles. Students will learn a framework for creating new businesses and transforming existing ones using AI. Students will leave the course with new insights into innovation opportunities in AI and a framework for pivoting their careers toward opportunities in AI. Guest speakers will include David Kerrigan, author of The New Acceleration: Artificial Intelligence and the Technologies Making Life Faster; Aishatu Gwadabe, peace technologist; Patrick Lin, author of Machine See, Machine Do; and an executive from the AI industry.

Sudha Jamthe is a technology futurist and has more than 20 years of entrepreneurial, academic, and operational experience at eBay, PayPal, and GTE. She is the author of books on AI, IoT, and autonomous vehicles and teaches AI Ethics at Barcelona Technology School and Business School of AI.
