It might come as a surprise that within acting training programs, actors are actually being “trained” to be expansive, open-hearted, physically embodied, vocally sophisticated, and emotionally available human beings. “Acting School” should be called “Person School” because actors leave those programs softened, awakened, alive, and empowered with the ability to “own a room” with total ease. In this highly interactive, on-your-feet course, you will walk through the exercises of those programs, explore those same tools, and emerge invigorated inside of your chosen profession. We will use the training methods, games, and practices taught and explored in rigorous acting training programs like those of American Conservatory Theater, NYU, and Juilliard to develop presence, to become active listeners, to learn what it truly means to give and receive, and to reembody the art and energy of play. We will learn these skills for their own sake as much as for the sake of the role they might play in a business context. Playful creativity engenders innovation, ease, and joy in our work lives. We will delve into the power of acting techniques to expand our business acumen, to be our authentic selves, and to make our work lives more fun.

Fluency in English and a high level of participation is required to benefit fully from this course.
