Tangerine, a gritty breakout indie hit from the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, is full of surprises, one of which is that it was shot from start to finish on the iPhone 5s. Enter the new era of filmmaking and filmmakers. No longer does it take a Hollywood budget to bring motion picture creativity to the screen. All that’s needed is that handy Apple device carried in purse or pocket and a good storyline. In this course, you will shoot, edit, and produce your own “feature” on an iPhone. You will learn about the applications, accessories, and techniques needed to create stunningly professional-looking film footage, as well as composition and storytelling basics. Once you add music, transitions, and filters as finishing touches, you will be ready to screen your first compelling iPhone movie. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to shoot and edit on an iPhone to produce a polished film with music, transitions, and filters.

This course is designed for students with all levels of videography experience. Students should have access to an iPhone 8 or newer with iOS 14.6 or newer and have experience with the iPhone Camera and Photos apps. Students will shoot and edit only on iPhones. Students must purchase apps for this course and can expect to spend an additional $15–$40 on these apps.
