Tangerine, a gritty breakout indie hit from the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, is full of surprises, one of which is that it was shot from start to finish on the iPhone 5s. Enter the new era of filmmaking and filmmakers. No longer does it take a Hollywood budget to bring motion picture creativity to the screen. All that’s needed is that handy Apple device carried in purse or pocket, and a good storyline.

In this course, students will shoot, edit, and produce their own “feature films” on an iPhone. You will learn about the applications, accessories, and techniques needed to create stunningly professional-looking film footage, as well as composition and storytelling basics. Then you will shoot, edit, and produce a compelling iPhone film. Once you add music, transitions, and filters as finishing touches, you will be ready to screen your first compelling iPhone movie. Upon completion of this workshop, students will be able to shoot and edit on an iPhone to produce a polished film with music, transitions, and filters.

This workshop is for students of all levels. An iPhone 5 or newer is required for the course. A list of apps from the Apple App Store to download to your device will be sent before the course begins. (Students can expect to spend an additional $35 on these apps.)
