We are complex individuals, and we understand ourselves and our motivations quite well. Yet we are sometimes baffled by our own impulses, surprised at our own defensive behaviors, and quite puzzled by the seemingly irrational behavior of others. By understanding the Enneagram—a research-based framework of nine interconnected personality types, their characteristics, and their structure—we can discover powerful benefits, including greater personal confidence, courage, and resilience. In this course, we will begin identifying our unique Enneagram type. We’ll explore how personality expresses itself uniquely, asking courageous questions that drive success and personal well-being: “What makes me come alive? Why am I sometimes so reactive? When am I judgmental? What makes others tick? How can I be happier, more effective, and fulfilled?" Through this lens of self-awareness, we also will enhance our capacity to transform excessive stress into resilience, replace harsh judgment with rapport and empathy, reduce unproductive conflict, and fulfill our goals with greater ease and kindness. Through a blend of mini-lectures, experiential exercises, and group discussion, we will investigate the results of an Enneagram-typing self-assessment tool. We will apply this knowledge to become a more effective communicator and confidently connect with others with greater rapport, empathy, and resilience, especially during challenging times.
This introductory course is designed for both beginners and those who have a basic acquaintance with the Enneagram method. Students will be required to purchase and complete an online Enneagram assessment ($10). More information will be provided upon registration.
