PHOTO 199 — Intermediate Photography: Beyond the Basics
Each week will be devoted to different themes: portraits (studio and location), nature and landscape (urban and rural), street photography, found objects, macro and still life, architecture, sports, and documentary narrative. Our final two classes will include an overview of creative post-production, workflow, storage, printing, websites, and social media. Weekly assignments with an in-class review of each student’s work will hone the skills and strategies needed to create a portfolio-worthy collection of photographs.
A digital camera, preferably a DSLR, is required. In addition, students will need either a wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens, or two lenses (a wide-angle and a short telephoto); camera flash cards with at least 8 gigabytes of memory; access to a computer with photo editing capabilities; and a 4- to 8-gigabyte thumb drive.
Field trip transportation will be the responsibility of the student.
