¡Es hora de aprender español! Whether for business or pleasure, travel abroad, or a trip to the local market, millions of Americans have found Spanish so useful that it has become the nation’s most popularly studied second language. This course is designed to help build oral proficiency and comprehension, and to foster an understanding of the Spanish-speaking world and its language and cultures. By the end of the course, students will be able to converse on a basic level, to talk about themselves and their likes and dislikes, and to ask others about themselves. The course focuses on practical communication in a high-energy yet reassuring environment.

This is the first course in a three-course sequence. The textbook assigned for “Beginning Spanish I” will also be used for Level II (Winter 2017), and a supplement reader will be used for Level III (Spring 2017). Students may enroll in this introductory course without intending to take all three courses in the sequence.

This course covers the same content as SPA 01, section B.
