For those who want basic communication skills in Mandarin Chinese for travel, business, or everyday use, this course will teach you what you need to know. With an emphasis on conversation and an introduction to reading and writing simplified Chinese characters, the course will focus on the acquisition of fundamental communication skills. By the end of the quarter, students will be able to pronounce Chinese words, introduce themselves, name items in their immediate environment, and ask simple questions.
