Is the card inside your digital camera packed with photos, but you don’t know what to do with them? Geared toward photography beginners, this course will introduce students to basic photography and computer workflow techniques. We will shoot photographs in the manual exposure mode under various lighting conditions, merging technique with ideas of composition, color, and action. We will also examine the similarities and differences in technique and workflow between film photography and digital photography. Weekly assignments will build upon each other and will be presented and critiqued during class. By the end of the course, students will have a working knowledge of how to manage their digital photographs both inside the camera and on the computer.

This course is designed for those with little or no experience in photography. The course includes three field trips. Meeting times and locations will be provided at the first class session.

Students should have access to a digital camera with a manual exposure mode, and will need access to postproduction (editing) software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements, or Adobe Photoshop Lightroom.
