Adobe built the Lightroom software program specifically for photographers, and it has been in use and redeveloped since January 2007. Lightroom allows for powerful image processing, is excellent at organizing your images, and can be used on Apple OS and Windows systems. Its strength lies in its ability to make nondestructive edits on your images.

In this course, you will learn the functions and use of the different modules available in Lightroom: Library, Develop, Map, Book, Slideshow, Print, and Web. In each class session, we will discuss the basic concepts associated with a particular module. In addition, students will learn the ins and outs of image organization and making basic edits: cropping, changing color balance, removing red-eye, sharpening, reducing noise, straightening, and correcting ways images appear in various formats. Students will also learn how to create slide shows with their images, process images for web/social media use, and organize photos based on geolocation. By the end of the course, students will feel comfortable making Lightroom a part of their photography toolkit.

This course is designed for those with little or no experience with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic. Students should have a general understanding of digital file management. Students must have a laptop computer with Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Classic installed, and should bring it to class. The course includes a thirty-minute one-on-one session with the instructor, to be scheduled after the course begins.
