Awaken the Actor Within You (DRA 199)
Discover increased expressivity, spontaneity, power, and creativity through the joy of acting. Acting is life enhancing, culturally enriching, and just plain fun. This course will include relaxation techniques, technical work on voice and text, games, and acting exercises to help push you to your creative limits. Rediscover play and enjoy the experience of speaking and performing some of the worlds greatest dramatic literature within a safe and supportive environment. This course will give you the tools and vocabulary to approach the creative world of the actor and playwright. It will culminate with in-class work on selected scenes from dramatic texts supplied by the instructor.
All levels of experience are welcome.
Kay Kostopoulos
Lecturer in Drama
Kay Kostopoulos teaches acting to undergraduates
and acting pedagogy to graduate students in Stanford's
Drama Department. She has also directed and taught
acting in the American Conservatory Theater's Advanced
Training Program. She is a professional actor who has
performed in many Bay Area theaters, including the
American Conservatory Theater and the San Francisco
and California Shakespeare Festivals. She has acted in
four seasons with the Stanford Summer Theater, and
most recently in the Emily Dickinson project.
