Course Description

Stock Market Savvy (BUS 99)
This course is for investors who want to do better in the stock market. It is also for new investors trying to see through the fog covering Wall Street. It answers questions such as: What makes winning stocks? How do you find the good ones? What makes for a balanced portfolio? Students will learn what pieces of data are most relevant for picking stocks and knowing how to interpret them. The course will also survey resources available online and offline that best inform investors’ stock buying decisions. Computers, books, newsletters, and magazines will be analyzed. In addition, students will learn about the big economic picture—such as what the Federal Reserve may or may not do—and how it affects investing decisions. Current market conditions as well as student questions will be the basis for much of the discussion.
