Basic Financial Analysis for Strategic Marketing and Entrepreneurship (BUS 56)
Do you feel that finance is from Venus and marketing is from Mars? Do you need to justify a budget for a marketing program or new product development project? Are you thinking of raising capital for your startup? Performing financial analysis is an essential skill for todays business manager. In this course, we will explore basic analytical tools that entrepreneurs, product and marketing managers, and engineering managers need for making more powerful strategy decisions, building better business plans, and understanding and communicating with CFOs, investors, and customers.
We will cover financial statements, cash budgeting, capital budgeting, discounted cash flow analysis, breakeven analysis, net present value, ROI, internal rate return, ratios, and sensitivity and scenario analysis. We will apply these concepts and make value-based strategy decisions, including new product proposal valuation, customer selection, and market growth alternatives. Classes will be fast-paced and highly interactive, and will include lectures, executive visits, and case discussions.

He has also helped many entrepreneurs raise millions of dollars for their startups. Seba has twenty-five years of experience in technology, including business development and strategic planning at Cisco Systems and RSA Security. He received an MBA from Stanford and a BS in computer science and engineering from MIT.
