Doing Business in China (BUS 182)
Learn the basic elements of planning, running, and profiting from a business venture in China, a market with 1.3 billion consumers and an unflagging annual GDP growth averaging nine percent since 1978. This course will be made up of case studies and guest speakers focusing on strategies and tactics in negotiation, team building, project management, intellectual property protection, personnel management, and bridging cultural gaps. Emphasis will also be on risk management and avoidance of common blunders and mismanagement. This is an essential course for business professionals, entrepreneurs, as well as small and medium-sized manufacturers preparing to meet the challenges of Chinas dynamic and growing market.
Vincent Yip
Management Consultant
Vincent Yip has served as a representative to the European Union and has taught at Northwestern University and USF Business Schools. He has traveled widely in China, consulting for the UN, the World Bank, and foreign corporations. In 1994, he founded and managed a Sino-Malaysian environmental technology company, ECOFEN, located in Beijing. He has authored three books on China and published numerous articles in technical and business journals focusing on doing business in China.
