Course Description

Beginning Arabic II (ARB 02)
Beginning Arabic II is a continuation of Beginning Arabic I and requires an understanding of the Arabic alphabet (in all positions) as a well as a limited ability to read basic words and simple phrases. This course will focus on basic readings in Arabic, and on improving students’ oral and written skills in the language. Toward that end, the course will employ a variety of audio-visual aids to help students hone their classical Arabic skills while simultaneously exposing them to several colloquial dialects. Students will also have the opportunity to present several short oral reports. Finally, this course will examine various cultural productions from the Arab world in a way that will further enhance students’ learning of Arabic grammar and syntax.
